As Pastor I have a lot of people ask me what the definition of a Christian is. There are many people that think they are Christians, yet have no idea of what the Bible says one is. So very quickly I would like to explain to the people what a real Christian is according to the Word of God.
A Christian is a person who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and according to the Bible is someone that has repented of their sins by showing true remorse for having sinned against a Holy God, their creator, and to turn and run away from everything that is known sin according to the Word of God. Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19,20; 1 John 1:9
"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." Proverbs 28:13
A Christian is Christ like. That is why he is called a Christian. He is one who does the will of God and obeys what he reads in the Bible. Heb. 5:9
The following scripture is Jesus talking with a lawyer and this is what is said:
And behold a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him saying Master what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, “What is written in the law, how readest thou?
And he answering said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy strength and with all thy mind and thy neighbor as thyself. And Jesus said unto him, “Thou hast answered right, this do and thou shalt live. Luke 10:25-28 (KJV)
A Christian is one who lives a life of prayer and holiness. A Christian shows love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control. Gal. 5:22-23 Christians do not swear (Eph. 5:4) or dress to entice. (1 Timothy 2:9) Paul warns about what sins will keep a man out of heaven. If you find a man or woman that says they are a Christian and yet lives like the devil, they are self-deceived. For Paul warns: "The acts of the flesh are obvious: Adultery (having sex with someone else’s spouse), fornication (sex with anyone you are not married to),uncleanness, lasciviousness (unclean sexual desires), Idolatry (loving anything more than God) witchcraft, hatred, variance (quarreling and dissension), emulations (resentfulness and envying others success), wrath(explosive anger), strife (selfish ambition), seditions (introducing divisive teachings not supported by the Word of God), heresies (divisions within the congregation meant to destroy the unity of the church), envyings, murders, drunkenness (by impairing ones mental or physical control by alcoholic drink), revellings (a party spirit involving alcohol, drugs, sex or the like), and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in times past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Gal. 5:19-21)
And he warned the Ephesians, "
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them." Ephesians 5:3-7

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. If you wish to call yourself a Christian, you must turn away from sin to Jesus Christ and follow him and then you will have the hope of heaven. Jesus saves us from our sins, not in our sins.
Please watch these videos and test yourselves in light of the Word. Are you going to heaven or hell? Are you a friend or an enemy of God?
Are you under Wrath or Grace?
Are you one of the few that will be saved?
God Bless All,
Pastor David
